Random thought of the week
This might sound nerdy lol but i have always seen life kind of like a video game.
I am always striving to get to the next level. One of the problems with that is i would never be happy with where i was because i was always thinking about the next level and how i could get there, instead of enjoying where i was at.
Something that i really got a revelation on this week was i need to lay down my visions and goals to pick up an others. Which in my case is Pastor Marks, and its amazing how God starts to fulfill my goals and visions through that person when I am willing to serve.
It says in Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Jesus is the most amazing person to ever walk this earth, and he came to serve!
So in that way it kind of feels like its the next level.
Its amazing how God works!
What we believe and why we believe it part 2
So the first Wednesday of this series i left a question with the youth, why do you believe in God? Then i got some of them to share why the following week. There were some really great reasons.
One guy said that he believes in God because of a miracle that took place at his birth. He wasn't suppose to live but God saved his life.
Another guy said that his mom and him were living on the street with no where to go because of addictions his mom was into. Then they received Jesus and Jesus has given his mom the strength to overcome the addictions and heal there family.
Wow those are really great reasons! But many of us have not gone through a near death experience or extreme life changes. If you were like me you were raised in a christian home and went to church every Sunday. You were raised to believe there was a God and you receive salvation through Jesus. But have you ever stop and thought, if i was raised in a Buddhist home would i believe in Buddha? Do you have any deep personal convictions for believing in God or is it because that is what you were taught?
I used to feel guilty for questioning if there was a God. But now i believe its a good thing, if it draws you to study, read the word and honestly seek God.
That's what happened to me when i was in my late teens. I needed proof. I started reading books like a case for a creator that had scientific facts that showed evidents that there is a God. And i read the old testament and some of the study's on the old testament prophesies. Did you know that there was over 300 prophesies in the old testament some written over a thousand years before the coming of the saviour that were all fulfilled in one man? That one man is Jesus.
God went through all of this with old testament prophesies and scientific facts not to impress us but to prove to us that he is divinely GOD. I heard it put in a good way once. God doesn't want us to take a step of faith into darkness but a step of faith into the light.
So if God is real and what is written in the bible is true then where it says in Exodus 34:13 our lord is a jealous God, means God is passionate about his relationship with me. And how can i not love God who has loved me so much first?
Wikipedia defines Jealous as "emulation, ardour, zeal, passionate"
Take it all intro
This would be a great starter for the biginning of youth as Mark plays the intro of Take it all.
Feb What we believe and why we believe it. part 1
The month of Febuary we are going to be talking about what we believe and why we believe it.
Did you know that our youth in north america who say there are christians have only a 2% difference in morial behaviour then youth who say they are not christians! ...2%!... That means that christians drink, do drugs, lie, and steal, almost as much as everyone else. What happened to being the salt and the light?
I was reading Belief matters by Josh Mcdowell and found something very interesting. He says that we shouldnt so much address there moral behaviour but address what they believe and help them understand it. Because what you believe forms your values and what you value forms your behaviour.
The video clip I played on wednesday is from Evan Almighty (one of my favorites)
2. Did Evan BELIEVE he was talking to God?
* how does God talk to us?
3. Was there evidence to BELIEVE he was God?
* Is there evidence for us to believe in God?
Jesus could not do many miracles in his home town.
Matt 13:58
And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
4. God was asking Evan to build an arc. Do you think that was going to be easy for him?
* what has God called you to do? Is it easy?
5. Do you think God had Evans best interest in mind?
* Do you think God has our best interest in mind?
Then we finnished with a really hard question for
This week
Ask yourself: Why do you believe in God?
You should of seen everyones faces when i asked that question lol. It was like a deer in the headlights kind of look.
